Team Rynkeby is a Nordic charity cycling team. Every summer Team Rynkeby cycles to Paris to raise money for seriously ill children (https://www.team-rynkeby.fi/Files/Images/TeamRynkeby/Sponsorfolder/2020/UK-Sponsor-Folder-2020_2.pdf).
Team Rynkeby was founded in 2002, when 11 amateur cyclists, associated with Rynkeby Foods A/S, decided to cycle to Paris to see the final stage of the Tour de France.
Rynkeby Foods was the main sponsor of their trip, which was also backed by other companies. In fact, the cyclists who joined the world’s first Team Rynkeby team were so accomplished at finding sponsors that, when the team returned to Denmark just over a week later, the team had made EUR 5,100 profit. Team Rynkeby donated their profits to the children’s cancer unit at Odense University Hospital. A tradition was born!
Today, Team Rynkeby comprises 2,100 cyclists and 550 volunteers, divided into 57 local teams from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the Faroe Islands, Germany and Switzerland.
In 2019, Team Rynkeby donated EUR 10.6 million to organisations that help children with critical illnesses.
In Finland, Aamu Säätiö (https://aamusaatio.fi) received EUR 775,129 and Sylva ry (https://www.sylva.fi) EUR 332,198 from Team Rynkeby.
Due to covid-19, the “Tour into France” by Rynkeby has been replaced this year by local tours, including the Rynkeby Team of Espoo (the initial hometown for Dasos). We will see the yellow dressed cyclers – riding for children – in Finnish roads, supporting also local food and accommodation suppliers and cafés.
Despite covid-19, the target remains to raise a new record funding for Aamu Säätiö and Sylva ry.
Dasos has supported Team Rynkeby Espoo since 2017. We wish happy riding for all Team Rynkeby people!
“Ride as much or as little, or as long or as short you feel. But ride.” (Eddy Merckx)
